Our Story
In October of 2005 a group of dedicated Fruitport residents united for a common purpose: to provide financial assistance to students and to enhance the quality of education for students in the Fruitport Community Schools district. With these goals in mind, the Fruitport Education Foundation (FEF), a nonprofit organization, was created.
The specific mission of the FEF is "to create and sustain an endowment to support and assist the development and implementation of educational programs and scholarships for Fruitport Community Schools students." Funding is received through donations from Fruitport alumni, parents, district residents, businesses and friends. The Community Foundation for Muskegon County manages and invests our fund's balance to earn the income we use to support our mission. A portion of our fund each year is used to support innovative school enrichment programs that inspire creativity, learning and improved performance.....education programs and activities that might not otherwise be funded or have been under-funded by the normal operating budget. We provide staff the opportunity to pursue their creative ideas that support the district's already rigorous curriculum. In addition, scholarship funds are awarded to graduating seniors to help launch their future learning at trade schools, junior colleges or universities.
